We’re looking for a Research and Engagement intern to help us make responsible technology the new normal.

It’s a full-time six-month role, based in our offices in Somerset House. We’re a London Living Wage employer, so the salary is £10.55 per hour.

We’re looking for someone in the early stages of their career, who is excited by our vision and mission, and the opportunity to help us deliver exciting and original research and engagement programmes.

What does an internship at Doteveryone involve?

We’re looking for an intern to help support our work. Reporting to the Senior Researcher, you will spend around half your time helping to deliver a policy-focused research project. At Doteveryone, no two projects are the same, and this could involve anything from drafting an engaging policy report to developing innovative technological prototypes or public campaigns. Regardless, you will be supported to turn the research insights into recommendations to drive genuine change.

With the remainder of your time you will support the team to share our vision and mission with engaging communications, spotting funding and partnership opportunities and attending external responsible technology events and meetings.

What will be my main responsibilities?

• Supporting the planning and delivery of quantitative and qualitative research
• Helping to develop research outputs to promote responsible technology, such as policy reports, public engagement initiatives or digital prototypes
• Writing engaging public-facing material about your experience via blog posts
• Communicating key Doteveryone messages through our main channels, including social media and our e-newsletters.
• Scanning partnerships and fundraising opportunities
• Identifying and sharing interesting news stories and tech policy debates with the team
• Attending external events and meetings with Doteveryone team members
• Attending events relating to responsible technology, and reporting your learnings back to the team

What experience should I have?

We are looking for someone who is:

• Experienced in quantitative and qualitative research OR experience in communications and public engagement
• Interested in using policy or public engagement to create change
• Interested in Doteveryone’s mission and a commitment to Doteveryone’s values
• Independent and willing to take the initiative
• Motivated to solve problems and adapt to a changing environment
• A team-player with good interpersonal skills
• Comfortable using Microsoft Office, Excel and Google Drive

And we are particularly interested in hearing from you if you have experience in one or more of:

• Design and User research
• Data analysis
• Fundraising and stakeholder management
• Public speaking
• Event planning
