Doteveryone partnership update
Omidyar Network funding TechTransformed — Methods, workshops and resources for responsible innovators
We are delighted to announce an extension of our partnership with Omidyar Network, whose ongoing support will expand Doteveryone’s ability to champion responsible technology.
The new investment will support the development of TechTransformed, a set of practical tools that innovators can use to put responsibility at the heart of their business planning, design thinking and product management.
And we’ll be building on our previous public engagement work with new research around the best ways to give the public confidence to demand and expect responsible technology. The partnership provides vital core support to Doteveryone which will allow us to grow as an organisation and respond to the fast-moving issues we work on.
“We are proud to support Doteveryone, an organisation that does amazing work bringing together government, industry, civil society and more to find solutions to some of the tech industry’s most complex problems,” noted Sarah Drinkwater, director at Omidyar Network’s Tech and Society Solutions Lab. “TechTransformed helps move us from a theoretical conversation to an actual solution, and we’re so pleased we can help support its continued expansion.”
“It’s vital that we don’t just talk about being good but that we make it happen. Omidyar Network’s support is invaluable in helping Doteveryone create tangible change,” said Rachel Coldicutt, CEO of Doteveryone.
TechTransformed
Omidyar Network’s original partnership with Doteveryone supported us to explore the most effective approach to incentivise good practice and create norms for responsible technology.
Our research showed that one of the hurdles is embedding values into business planning so we began to develop resources that help businesses build technology with care for its impact on people and society.
We launched TechTransformed at our recent Responsible Tech 2019 event and premiered one of the components — a new Agile event to help design for the consequences of technology.
We’re now starting to share this work and are building a community of responsible innovators who are testing and using these tools to make genuine change.
✍️ Sign up here to receive early access to the TechTransformed content and become a beta-tester for resources which includes Trello boards for responsible start-ups, new approaches to user-centred design, hands-on guides for mapping unintended consequences.
Established in 2004 by eBay founder Pierre Omidyar and his wife Pam, Omidyar Network is a philanthropic investment firm that invests in and helps scale innovative organizations to catalyze economic and social change.
Omidyar Network, alongside BT and Sage, make up Doteveryone’s core funders and as a charity, we are grateful for their generous financial support. Read more about our funders here.
