Embedding responsible technology practices in businesses
It’s been a little over a month since I joined Doteveryone as the new Commercial Director to lead the charity’s work to embed responsible technology practices within technology businesses, social enterprises and other charities. I’ve been saying that it feels like it’s been one month going on a few years. This is both because I’ve managed to dive straight into doing some very exciting work on developing our TechTransfomed services and products, while also finding a fit within the team that feels both familiar and natural. And it’s exciting to join a team with collective drive and determination to champion responsible technology for a fairer future.
Within the course of my previous work in AI for Good, and Ethics in AI, I have actively sought to find the right principles, frameworks, processes to build and develop responsible, and ethical AI solutions.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve heard this echoed by people from business and organisations who recognise the importance of prioritising responsibility but are looking for a practical way to do so. They want something that goes beyond diagnostics and can support them to innovate at scale in a conscious and responsible way that aligns with their values and growth goals. Over the next few weeks and months, I will be working with my team to maximise the impact of the tools and mechanisms that were created as part of TechTransformed, while building and iterating new versions to ensure they’re easy to embed in practice.
We will also be looking at how we measure our results and formulate research questions to show that organisations that have a continued commitment to being responsible with technology is good for business.
I have been blown away by the talent and capability of everyone on the Doteveryone team, and believe that if anyone can solve these challenges it’s Doteveryone (with a little help from me).
