The sudden emergence of new dominant industries and companies has challenged our regulators and societies. The fact that those industries are overwhelmingly populated by a narrow sector of society should concern us all.
We believe it's possible to find ethical and equitable responses to these issues and that great thinking on many of them has already been done.
We are working to shine a light on that thinking and to find practical ways to implement it.
Our first project, 5050tech, looked at ways of addressing the gender imbalance in the tech industry. Currently just 17% of the tech workforce are women.
We organised events for women-led startups to pitch to VC firms in London and Newcastle and arranged mentoring and pitch tutoring for them. We're now arranging for these companies to get extra help with their digital skills via some of our partners.
Connecting early stage, internet-enabled start-ups with at least 1 woman co-founder with expert mentors and investors to support them in reaching their potential.
